The Lekiny Bridge, final stretch.
The Lekiny Bridge in Ouvéa connects the Mouli tribe to the Lekiny tribe. It is a major maritime structure in New Caledonia and throughout the South Pacific. Situated on an exceptional site due to its biodiversity richness and the beauty of its landscape, our teams have been working since late 2020 on the construction of this bridge.
Measuring 180 meters in length and 13 meters in width, the structure will accommodate a double lane (compared to a single lane on the old bridge), sidewalks, and cycle paths on both sides. Extended by 60 meters compared to the existing structure, it will provide a wider maritime corridor with only 2 sea supports instead of the current 6. A significant improvement in hydro-sedimentary flows is expected at this UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.
The works are currently in their final stages with the completion of waterproofing, sidewalks, road infrastructure, as well as artistic and landscaping enhancements to provide a significant tourism advantage to this exceptional site.
In a remote location, with deep foundations, on-site concrete production, sea supports, installation of prefabricated elements, overall coordination of the site… Arbé is proud of its team facing technical challenges and resilient in the face of difficulties encountered: COVID period, unpredictable weather, and more.
